How to play

Practical instructions for playing Jamb on this website: rolling, holding dice, scoring, and using game controls.

Start a turn

Press the roll button to roll all five dice. You can roll up to three times in a turn, but you can record a score after an earlier roll if you choose.

Hold dice and roll again

After rolling, click the dice you want to hold; click a held die again to release it. The next roll changes only dice that are not held. Press the roll button again to continue.

Choose a scorecard cell

Click an available cell to record the current roll. Filled cells and cells that are out of order cannot be selected. Fill Down from Ones to Jamb, Up in the reverse order, or choose any open category in Free.

Click a category label to see how it scores, or a column icon to read its filling order.

Announce a category

After your first roll, you can select an open category in the Announced column. This locks in the category for that column; click its announced cell to record your score. You cannot roll again after announcing. If Down, Up, and Free are all filled, you must announce before rolling again.

Undo a score or restart

Undo restores your most recently scored cell and the turn that produced it, so you can choose a different cell. It is available only immediately after scoring and asks you to confirm.

Restart begins the game again and clears the current scorecard after confirmation.

Other controls

The sigma button shows or hides subtotals and the total score. The share button lets you share a link to the game; after finishing, you can also share your final result.
